i have an 88 camaro that needs a new bumper cover. i was looking in a catalog to see what is available and found that the 82-84 are not the same as the 85-92. i then looked online to see if i could find a picture of each to compare and i cant see a differance. so what is the differance between the two and are they interchangable on the cars?

 

I'm not completely sure about Camaros, but when I had my 89 Firebird I swapped on an 82 T/A front nose without any issues. So I'd assume Camaros would swap just fine. You may have to trim/swap the honey comb stuff that GM put behind the bumper covers.

 

they will fit, just look different.

-82-84 have the vented type chin spoiler,
-the marker lights are recessed onto the impact bar, rather then bolt to the bumper itself

just two of the biggest changes

 

They 82-84 bumpers don't accept the lower chin either.
I just swapped out my 84 bumper for a 85+ so I could add the lower chin.

 

The '82-'84 bumpers also require a matching impact bar, along with the previously mentioned impact absorber(honeycomb), turn signals and lower spoiler.

 

with all that said, i think i will be looking for an 85+ bumper cover. thanks guys!!

 

Where ya located? I have full ground fx off of an '84 Z28. Front & rear bumper covers, front chin spoiler, and side skirts.

 

i am located in new hampshire. i think i want to keep the body as close to original as possible with 85+ bumper and body kit. i have the front end grill insert, and lower spoiler, that are still pretty good condition but the bumper cover itself is a little rough. thanks for the offer just the same!!
