Streetable IMSA Project

My plans for my 89 RS is to build a IMSA replica to have fun with. Something along the lines of this.

Re: Streetable IMSA Project

so you're going to build a tube chassis car for the street? Or you just want to mimic it by having 1" ground clearance and circle track rims?

Re: Streetable IMSA Project

i was kicking around with the idea of doing a tube front clip with a 70-81 camaro stub. some 80's gt-1 cars were stock uni-bodies that were tubed throughout and some guys even used the stock sheet metal and suspension mounts in the rear.

it's been a few years since i've been in on here, but there's a guy on here with a black t/a with the custom front end and tubed front stub. i was thinking along the lines of that, but going back to the 70's camaro frame for the upper and lower control arms for the front instead of struts. still just brainstorming right now, but i've always loved the imsa camaros because of their bold stance and all business attitude appeal.

Re: Streetable IMSA Project

i dont get it. is it going to be a road car or a race car? if it is just for the road then why do the tubed front end? just lower it 2", put some rims on it, add some head/ tail light covers and send it to a body shop for race car paint.
