Fab'ing seat risers for APC seats

I got a killer deal on some APC seats, 2 for $190 I just couldnt resist. They may not be corbeau, but they get the job done. They hold me in better than stockers ever did. So, of course with any aftermarket uni-fit seat, theres the mounting dillema.

Now I could go to wedge and get some for about $70 per side, but my pockets aint that deep being the holidays and all. So Im wanting to make some risers/adapters to made to the APC sliders. I dont wanna reuse the stock sliders, mine are worn, work like crap and hang up all the time.

The APC sliders are appx. 15" apart whereas te stock mounting studs for the seat are appx 13 3/8" IIRC. The studs are also offset and the front studs sit higher than the rear. I was thinking about getting some flat stock and making a base to start with. Start out by making a base that sits perfectly flat with the floorpan and lines up all the bolt holes in the floor. But, then I have to space out the box and the APC sliders. How cna I go about this safely? Ill go outside and get some pics to better explain what Im attempting

Heres a rough sketch as to what Im talking about. Im still wondering about how to make the risers. The back is gonna have to be lifted up higher, but I jsut dont the safest way to do it. If anyones got a pic of their custom brackets/risers or something to that affect, I would greatly appreciate it!

Note too that the slider is kinda recessed into the track, so Id have to somehow space out the bracket-riser from the slider so it isnt causing friction between the two

Did you keep the raised brackets that are welded ontot he floor pan? And how did you go about adapting the brackets/risers/sliders and everything that you used?

i kept the stock brackets and made a frame out of flat stock. bolted it to the seat than to the stock brackets. works fine. no problems with height or anything.

Re: Fab'ing seat risers for APC seats

I wanted to bring this back from the dead.

I did as Charged350 suggested and cut off the stock mounting studs and left the raised brackets that are welded to the floorpan. I took the seats back out (finally, after almost 2 years!) to put the sub-belt from the 5pt harness in as well as prep-ing for new carpet. Ever since I installed them Ive had trouble sliding them. Actually Ive never been able to slide them once installed. Took them out, sliders are not warped or bent and move freely. Im guessing that Im not mounting them level or something causing the sliders to bind. How did yall go about doing this, its doing it on both sides. I dont have the original seats to go by, I cant remember if the seats were originally tilted towards the back a few degrees or if they were mounted totally level. Any help?
