OKay next month I am stripping my 87 Iroc and bringing it to my buddies barn to store. I think I am gonna do most of the work before I bring it since in feburary it will e freeezing here. There are only some minor dings to fix so It shouldnt take too much work.

Questions

1. Should I prime the entire car or just sport that needs to be touched on? (i did my first car with my dad and we did the whole car. I notice some people only do spots.

2 What colour should I go with. I want to stay either stock OR maybe close to stock with maybe some more POP to it. ( car is 1987 bright red)

if you don't plan on painting the whole car now, then I'd suggest spot blasting the rust spots and use a good etching primer to keep them clean till you paint the whole car. Also i wouldn't leave it out in the wether with just primer on it..........as for color.......there isn't too many nicer than 87 IROC red.......I just bought 3 quarts of it for mine!

 

just wondering hotrod- have you sprayed it yet? if so how well did 3 quarts cover and how much extra did you have? thanks

 

I haven't sprayed it yet, but with an HVLP sprayer and a bse coat/clearcoat system, I should have paint left over. High pressure sprayers waste all kinds of paint.

 

Well I wont be leaving it outside in primer, as primer sucks in moister etc. It will be in a barn over the winter with some spots primed. It will also be tarped up too.

I am not totally sure but I may go the same colour as camaroguys..or close to. I like the candy blood red.
