hood clearance
well i got my motor back in and the air cleaner on.. its a k&n 14inch air cleaner with a drop base around the carb and k&n top.. i'm hitting the hood just a little.. what can i do to it without getting a cowl hood.. any scoops or trimming that you guys have done that i can do?

Try a different drop base - I went through several before I found one that fit - I think it was from Pep Boys - a $15 chrome job. Many are "drop base" - but there are some with more "drop" than others. This one I got dropped so far that the throttle linkage wouldn't fit - I had to get a 1/2" spacer to put it on.
