hood hinge repair?
Has anyone tried to repair the hood hinges? Or anyone make a new replacement for them? I tried searching, but didn't come up with anything with the google search.
My car is to the point where i have to rock thew hood back and forth, opening one side a little then the other till it gets to about 1/3 the way open and it will lift ok after that. It's usually the pass side that hangs up first. It's gotta be slop from the hinges. The struts are fairly new and made no difference in how the hood opened when I replaced them.

Has the hood gotten any damage....if not when the hoods up check out your pivot points if their loose theres usually nothing you can do. Go check out some junkyards you might get lucky.

No the hoods fine.
Junkyards aren't going to help much since the cars are 15 years old at the newest at this point so even if it worked for now, something will need to be done at some point later ( probably sooner lol )
I know the pins have too much slop. Just wondering if anyone figured out a repair. I might try and pick up a spare set to see what I can do.. just looks like the pins need to be cut out.

You know what you could do is take your hood off after you go to the hardware store pick up sum nuts and bolts take out the pressed in fittings that pivot and put the bolts through that pick up sum washers and stuff maybe it would do the trick. its worth a shot cause seriously how much could it cost $3.00 maxx......and if it don't work out well you'll be driving with out a hood lol if it was up to me I'd try it.

I'm mostly concerned with trying to get those pins out with out wrecking the hinges. Looks like they are split on the end after they are installed.
After that it's just a matter of machining up a nice pin and bushing set that could be easily removed when the bushing wears out. That's the easy part
