3d model for customizing and cfd-calculations
Hi there,
I bought four years ago a 84th Camaro with a v6 2,8l engine.
After some health problems I back on track now.
My Camaro was waiting in my basement garage to be restored. I was thinking what to do with that car, cause I got it from ebay and it was quiet clear to me that customizing will be the solution.
Therefor I'm looking for a 3d body model that I can use for cad/cam systems and for cfd simulations.
It's possible for me to do 3d scans after sand blasting, but if a 3d model exists it will save time.
thx in advance

first of all, welcome!
as for a 3d model, i was thinking about doing one in my 3d modeling software sometime in the next couple of months. i dont know exactly how acurret itll be, but tell me if ur maybe interested about me sending you a copy of the file once im done with it. do you know wat kind of format you need it in?

Hi,
which programm for modeling are you gonna take?
I can deal with any output of Cartia, Solid Works, Unigraphics, Ironcad, Rhinoceros, Maya, Softimage, Cinema 4d, Lightwave and Fluent.
Hm, maybe It will be a good idea to scan the body with a 3d scanner like David (http://http://www.david-laserscanner.com/).
I am indeed interested in such a model, but I don't have the time to set it up myself.

Hi,
you just need a webcam (5 megapix would be nice, but isn't a must), a laserline and the programm and its calibrationstarget from that side.
Of course lights would be helpful to get better contrast.
Masking the cars windows with white paper is helpful for detecting the windows.
I'll take a look at what gamespace provides as file formats. Maybe I can write some converters to get one of the mentioned formats. If the data is stored in quarternions, those converters are pretty easy.

From back when i was learning meshes
The wheel base and tracks are accurate, but I modeled the body itself from photo traces
I dont know if its accurate enough for you
Let me know if you need it

Yeah, have a try on gamespace, I need dxf or obj extention as file formats.
