paint questions.
Ok im temporarily painting my car until im in college. Im just going to spray ti so it isnt like 4 different colors. Im either going to paint it blue or black. but before i paint it id like to know which color hides defects the est i know black sucks but does it hide it better then a kinda metallic blue?
Re: paint questions.
your going to paint your car until your in college? that right there makes no sense...
your basically saying the car is 4 colors now and your trying to get away as cheap as possible so it isn't too embarassing to drive correct? find a friend or a member on the board to help you tape and prep your car, take it to macco or similar place for the $500 special, cheaper if you can find it and call it a day. metallics look good but only if painted right, they look cheap if sprayed out of a can. black shows everything, the worst color to paint cheaply. if you must go cheap and you want a color that hides go with primer gray, flat black or white. all colors that will hide what you need. stay away from metallics. if you must add color. dark blue is better then black, as little metallic as possible, dark green also. light colors silver and white work best.

Im going to College at NADC... So i plan on completely ripping the car apart and having it painted there... And yes right now im trying to get away with it being as cheap as possible. Once i get my tailor built at school I plan on working on my car and painting it in our schools booth using that duplicolor paint shop pro or what ever it may be called just until i get to Nashville. I don't like it being Black, dark gray, lite gray, and red. At school the teacher already had black and a metalic blue So thats why i was choosing between the two.

Re: paint questions.
I stripped my car down, removed everything I didn't want painted. Block sanded it down to 400 grit. Maaco in Burton would have shot paint on it for well under $500. Keep in mind no body work or rust repair and not a lot of masking required. Was quoted $550 ish for "supreme" and value prep for my car based on all the work I did. Your results will vary...
Got talked into base/clear job and a few other options. Its there now.

WHITE hides best. Go to NAPA and buy a gallon of Fleet White or Bright White 5.0 national VOC Urethane enamel (single stage). WIth reducer and hardener you will have two gallons sprayable (probably enough for 3-4 coats, totally too much paint) for under $170 total. You will need a gun and compressor.
