Ready for Paint... Questions
My 85 Z-28 has had the body straightened, stripes sanded, and is ready for the monochrome paint, only some wetsanding and a good wash before she goes to get painted. I am currently interviewing places to get the job done in the Northwest Atlanta area. Looks like I'll be taking it to Peach Auto Body. They did a good $500 job on my first 85, but I'm still looking for a good place to get it sprayed for around $500. That would be for a single stage enamel of a dark metallic blue that is yet to be determined. That seems like a fair price seeing as how I've already spent 100's having the body prepped. It's pretty much a tape job then spray it. My questions.
Should I demand that a flex agent be used in certain areas? If so, which areas?
Should I remove anything body wise before I drive it up there, or while I'm there? (I'll have to drive the car to the shop...no trailor)
Basically, to all who have painted or had cars painted, what can I do to assure this paint job is the best $500 paint job it can be?
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge.

Re: Ready for Paint... Questions
For 500 bucks you are not going to get the best paint job. not to many place that will spray a car that cheap.
But i would take everything off that you could. on the doors, take the handels, locks, belt moldings, and mirors off. all the gfx should be taken off.the spoiler. When u get there ask if u can take the tail light out. All in all try to get as much stuff off the car u can. That will make a 500 dollar paint job look better. One more thing alot of people forget to do is pull the fender liners out. You could lossen up the bumpers so there is a opening.
And yes they should put a flex agent in the paint for the bumpers.
But good luck

1 question if u took the time to straighten the body out. Y would u be putting ss paint on the car. Y not use a cheaper base coat /clear system
