Trans Am hood louvers

how do you remove the ones near the back of the hood? the ones near the nose I know how to get off, except my socket doesn't fit into one of the holes, any ideas? I tried searching, but couldn't find anything.

Re: Trans Am hood louvers

i had to get a circular saw bit at the end of my drill. got one at home depot.

basically i cut to make the hole bigger to get a socket in there to remove the front grill inserts.

the ones on the sides near the fenders and windshield i used i think a flat head screw driver. there are inner tabs u get under and press in gently and there are 2 per insert facing the fender.

if i were you id becarful. i was re-painting my car so i didnt care if i was gonna scratch the paint trying to get a flat screwdriver in there.

also to get a better idea where these tabs r, go to ebay and search for them and see if there is or someone can send u pictures of the underside of them.

its really easy, goodluck

alright, thanks. I was afraid I'd have to make the holes bigger. but I'm repainting too, nows the time to spray primer, so they need to come off.

You can get the front ones out without cutting anything, I did a few years back when I painted mine. I think I used some really thin channel-lock type pliers I had. The rear ones just pop out with a screwdriver.

yeah, I tried that before I widened the hole, it was working but taking too long. so I widened the hole and now its very easy to fit a socket in there, well worth it.
