removing rust from rock chips/ rock chip repair

hey i was takin a look at the bird today and noticed some of the rock chips on my hood were beginning to rust.. anyone have a good method of getting the rust out so i can touch up those spots? i dont want to just paint over it.

feather them out with sand paper 180-300 grit, then prime and paint.

i was afraid you were going to say that.. i used to help out in an autobody shop for my first job and one of the guys i worked with told me about an abrasive bit you could buy to get into the rock chip so you could just use touchup paint on it.. hey that just gave me a good idea, maybe ill go see what kind of stuff i have layin around for the dremel, bet i could find somethin
