I am attempting to replace my outer window sweeps (felts) on my '86 IROC and notice that there is a screw BEHIND that black triangle guide piece. I have managed to wrestle all of the other scrrews from behind the window glass, but now I guess I'm going to have to remove the black triangle guide piece.

I don't know how to remove that piece and I'm hoping that someone can tell me how. I have searched the website and see mention of this piece being removed, but no instruction on how to actually do it. Any pictures of the actual nuts and bolts to remove this thing would be HUGELY appreciated. Am I making this harder than it is? When I remove it, will the window drop to the bottom of the door? Thanks!

 

Alright, are you talking about the black triangle thing that covers up the edge of the door window by the windshield? If so, If i remeber correctly, there are 2 bolts that keep it in place. First, take off your interior door panels. There should be 2 bolts with big washer type things on them. should be a 13mm bolt (don't quote me on that) and that should take it out. Once your interior door panel is off, it'll be a breeze. You'll see what it's attached too. and mark where the nuts were originally placed too. If you tighten it down in a different spot, the triangle thing will be out of place.
