1992 FB hood decal?

Hello all, I just bought a 1992 firebird and im going to get it painted because this one has many spots where the paint is peeling off. I want to put a bird decal on the hood to compliment it.

I cannot find a decal that was designed to come on a 1992 F-bird, but I would like to know, would it be possible to put a decal like this one http://www.phoenixgraphix.com/transam/7981ta-99.htm

on a car that it was not designed for? Any measurements I need to take before I buy something like this? thanks for the responses in advance,

mikeye

If you like it,buy it.That decal will fit your 92 hood.
there is also a bird decal that came on I believe 85-87 trans-ams that would also look good.
The 85-87 one I'm talking about was just one solid color, kind of an outline of the 2nd gen. style in a way, just not as busy with the 3 different colors.
I don't have a pic of it,but I know I saw it in the Classic Industries catalog.
Anyone else know the bird I'm talking about and happen to have a pic?

Re: 1992 FB hood decal?

The one he's talking about is offered between 85 to 87 i beleive T/A bird they offered, i don't like it because it's smaller due to the hood vents and is made to fit inbetween them all. Halks has a picture, i tried uploading it but kept getting an error. The other one is my favorite thirdgen version, it came on the "bandit 2" i believe in like 90 or sum year not sure...anyways it's bigger and more nostalgic (sp) to the 2nd gen one). I tried getting both pics on here, but they both came up with an error, but you can go to yahoo and do like 1985 Trans Am and see one and do Firebird Hood Bird or something like that one google or yahoo, and you should be able to see some.

Man those Bandit 2 cars were pretty but that fake scoop killed it for me. I test drove one 15+ years ago and there were no engine mods to that special edition. Just decals and glued on junk.

Re: 1992 FB hood decal?

yea tell me about it, i was thinking about putting on a shaker on my car and putting that bandit 2 decals, but decided against it, lol. But yea bandit 2 wasn't worth it for just decals, should have been SOMETHING special about it, but yea, i def would rather that bird on my hood than the trans am one they offered, like i said it was too small for a plain hood, cause it was created to fit between those vents.
