83 T-Top edging

Hi all,

I have the 83 latch style t-tops in my 83 Recaro TA. I bought a beautiful set off of EBay to replace my weathered originals. They are not faded or scratched and have been completely outfitted with all new seals.

And now for the problem. The black painted outer edge protection that runs around the entire outer edge of the t-top glass is missing. You can see where the edging used to be as there is a small dirt line that runs the entire outer glass edge on each top.

Without this edging they really don't fit too tightly when latched and I have been scared to death to put them on my car based on their almost perfect condition and cost.

My question are:

1) Does anyone know what the outer material is made of? Plastic or metal, etc.?

2) Does anyone know how this edging is attached to the glass from the factory and is there any rubber or molding that goes in between the glass and the edging?

3) Anyone know where I can go to purchase these pieces (or have them made) and affixed to the glass?

Thanks for the info!!
