Driver Door Wobbles Up & Down
Driver Door Wobbles Up & Down
Hey guys,
Since I got my car the drivers side door has "wobbled" up and down a little bit. When i open it fully, you hear a *clunk!* and the door would drop an inch or two. Half the time I try to close the door and it doesn't close fully. My dad had told me I need to replace the door pins? If anyone could touch this subject a bit more for me, and perhaps where I could get the parts for this.
Thanks guys

You and your father may be in for some sticker shock as the upper hinge is a stressed member of the unit body. I've used the Top Down Solutions kit myself and also highly recommend it.
If you take the door completely off as I did becareful where you set it down. I put big crease in the thin outer panel balancing it on a milk crate. Stupid.

Re: Driver Door Wobbles Up & Down
$450 seems a little steep for some hinge pins and bushings....guys, our cars are known for being cheap and easy to repair. The factory setup is fine as long as care is taken opening and closing the doors. Dorman makes the pins and bushings for our cars, and you can buy them at any Pep Boys in the HELP section. Whole set for both doors should be under $35. Here's the link with the part number.

Re: Driver Door Wobbles Up & Down
The dorman kit is only for the lower hinge. If you want to repair the upper hinge you're stuck buying the TDS kits. The upper hinges are totally different then any other bushing kit out there.
