Pulled the driver door panel off to replace the lock and found this thing inside the door. Any idea what it is or where it goes?

Never seen such a part in a car.
Who knows, maybe now that mystery rattle your car has had the entire time you've had it, will finally quit.
At least it's not a beer bottle with a note inside that says "so you finally found it you rich S.O.B" like somebody I knew did years ago in a Cadillac from the early 70s.
