GFX conversion problem

Hey guys, I did some searching already and didn't quite find the same problem as I am having. I recently converted my 89 IROC gfx to the 91-92 style aero package. Everything went rather well for matching up except the rear of the side rocker panels. They will not lay against the rear quarter and have about a 1/2" gap. I used all the normal brackets for this area and they will not pull it close enough to the quarter. Any suggestions for how I could pull in or fill in this gap would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Yes, I did drill the new holes for the bracket. The problem came with the bracket not being able to pull the rocker piece in flush with the rear quarter.

Re: GFX conversion problem

i had one issue on another ground effect... the door... the bracket slipped out from its place under the fiberglass and it didn't suck it up to the car. Chack and make sure it is in place. If not try some washers behind the quater to give it some more pressure to see if it gets tight. hope i helped some. -Matt

Re: GFX conversion problem

Usually the GFX get weak in the area where the bracket tucks into and it will start to bend outwards. I heated mine with a small propane torch to soften it, pushed it back inwards and the problem was solved.

I didn't even consider the heating option. I may have to try that when I can get near the car again. I moved not that long ago and it's being stored in a different location. Thanks for all the suggestions guys I do appreciate it.
