Yes, but as many people who have problems with theirs I dont know why you would want to. I wish I could just close mine. My pull down is stuck in the down position so my hatch wont even latch.

Mine works awesome and I love it. They are like anything else. They need maintenance but it's no big deal and the repair kits are fairly inexpensive. The other thing is DON"T SLAM THE HATCH CLOSED. set it down and let the pulldown do the rest.

The body mount pattern of the manual latch is different than the pull-down assembly. It can be done though. You'd have to cut the body mount from a 86-91 doner car and attach it in place of the slam latch mount. You'll also need to swap the rear inner trim panel since it too is different to accomdate the larger pull-down assembly.
