92 Camaro spoiler
I've recently put a new spoiler on my car and now the trunk won't stay up. The spoiler is too heavy for the stock lid lift shocks (or whatever they're called.) Are there stronger ones that I can put in? And where can I get them?
Thank ya'll.

Re: 92 Camaro spoiler
it could be unless the ones u have on now r new cause with mine there worn out a bit to where they will hold it up if the cover thing for the trunk isnt on but if i put it on the little extra weight keeps the trunk from staying up

Re: 92 Camaro spoiler
you have a 92 rs, it originally had the little fin spoiler, right? well IIRC these shocks all vary in strength by model, for example the shocks for my T/A with the ridiculously heavy spoiler would be much stronger than those on your RS. and I would think these would be interchangeable, just my thinkin

Re: 92 Camaro spoiler
GM did make different strength hatch struts to accomodate the different hatch weights with or without rear spoilers and and also the different types of rear spoilers. When I bought my 86 iroc it had an aftermarket pedestal spoiler and the struts wouldnt hold it up.I find hatch struts on a regular basis at junkyards and tried many pairs but none worked until I got a set from a formula firebird with the wrap around spoiler. They held it up without a problem.About a year later I removed that spoiler and just had the stock camaro lip spoiler and then the struts were too strong as I really had to lean on the hatch to close it.So I went with a set of weaker struts and its much better now.If you look at the end of the struts towards the rear there is usually a colored ring that wraps around the strut.Ive seen blue ,green,yellow...etc.I believe this is to signify the different loads they can handle.

Re: 92 Camaro spoiler
Yeah, get new hatch arms, just about any parts store has them, I don't have the Z spoiler, but with the new hatch arms I hit the button and my hatch shoots up on its own.
