They came stock in the high rise wing since it was required by law to have a 3rd brake light. your original one is in the spolier right?

Re: did camaros come original with the high rise spoiler or was it aftermarket?

can't tell where the question is other than is this a stock spoiler...but yes, it is extremely similar if not identical to the 91/92 Z28 spoilers. The third brake light will NOT be in the spoiler as advertised, so it would work will for the 1986 models or 91/92 (exterior/interior high mount stop lights). Otherwise you will need to figure out the 3rd brake light issue for models in the middle (87-90, lights were in the spoiler) if you need one by law.

thanks. mine doesn't have it originally. i have an 85 iroc-z. i'll probably use the truck led brake that usually goes on the bumber.

i've seen some on camaros that look like the picture but were shorter length wise, i hate that kind . only want the high rise.

pre 86 you dont need a third brake light by law. In 86 they required the camaro and firebird/t/a to have a 3rd brake light. so technically you dont need one by law so dont worry about it. I'm getting rid of the one on my 86...

Re: did camaros come original with the high rise spoiler or was it aftermarket?

yea, your thinking of something similar to a 1988 sports coupe, they had the "low rise" spoiler with the third brake light incorporated. Considering the hidious third brake lights all the firebirds got, i think that spoiler does a better, more modern job. What you are looking at in the picture above is the "high rise" 91/92 style, came only on the z28s and had high mount stop lights so there was no need to incorporate on in the spoiler. In pre-1985, as mentioned above, it is not any state law to have a third brake light, as it became federally mandated in 1986, and GM knowing this issue coming up decided to procrastinate to the point (either that or had no sense of style...80s...) that their only option was an exterior third brake light. They must have realized their mistake by 87 when they fixed them all into the spoilers, and by 91 when they realized...hey...why drill one more hole in the body...lets put it inside! lol. If you have a lisenced 1985 car...then you do not need any form of a 3rd brake light.
