83 trans am color advice

i had my car done up it is getting primed now finally. It sat for 10 years looking ugly as hell, it was my first car so I couldn't let it go. Now I ordered a decal kit that is silver, I plan on painting the car black. for anyone who is interested, im not using any of the striping its all in its wrappers still sealed in the fed ex box.

Now ive got a guy to do all my mechanical/body work, and will take the car into maaco to get painted.they asked whether i wanted base or acrylic, what's the difference?
What i wanna know is what should i do with out busting the bank? where can I see different colors of black? what looks best? I think of the 3rd gen trans ams as sports cars so i dont think old school muscle car colors would be appropriate like plum crazy purple for example. this is my first time going through the restoration of a car too so any advice is good.

Re: 83 trans am color advice

if anyone knew where to find a correct 82-83 trans am picture with the black paint and silver decal scheme please let me know where to view it, I wanna know if the stripes look good or bad, cause otherwise im not installing mine.

if you wanna view the decal kit i purchased look up the 82 TA kit at
phoenix graphix.com they got alot of various hard to get decals for cheaper than i can find other than joe blow on ebay.
Also what can a guy do for custom gauges in the 83 trans am i dont like the idea of cutting a whole for a whole new gauge. And if there is a gauge face i need it in KMH i can find white ones in MPH for those interested. Also where can i guy get the red light background that the gta's or pace cars had of its kind?

One last question i have factory dual exhaust with y-pipe, i just bought cheap flowtech shorty headers what kind of exhaust works best to make it true dual exhaust? what size pipe? H pipe? my 87 cutlass has an H-pipe sounds good with its shitty 305 even i dunno.

that should be about all my questions for the day any advice is appreciated
