rubber piece laying inside of the door

I just had to repair my drivers side window on my 96 Trans Am. Laying inside the door was this piece of black rubber, about 2 inches by 2 inches, by 2 inches, with an almost rectangular hole through it, and a 1 inch long arrow shaped ridge on one side.

I couldn't find anywhere that it looked like it would fit. And my friend who has had several Trans Ams says he has found the same piece in his doors before. But he has never figured out what they are.

Anyone have any idea what this piece is, and where it goes ?
