Whats a Good Light Duty Welder?

I'm looking to pick up a light duty welder with a friend to do things such as body work repair and exhaust.

I've tried the cheaper Lincoln electric welder to weld up an X pipe for a buddy. I beleive it was the 115V, but I could not get a bead going to save my life. The thing just bounced around in my hand and I got a spattery mess of a weld. The welds held held but theres leaks.

So I wanted a light duty that can convert to gas and still put down a nice bead. Under 700$. Was looking at the Miller 140V with the autoset for $650 and the Hobart Handler 140V for $460. Any ideas?

Im a fan of Millers but as long as you get a decent gas welder you will be fine.
