door locks

I bought an 89 camaro and it had no locks on the doors so then I went to this little shop that gets the locks from the junkyard and puts them on your car. So they put the locks in and everything is working fine. After about a week I come outside of my house and see that my key hole on the door has been popped off. I think someone was trying to break into my car by popping the key thing off. So, I take it back to the place that did my locks and ask if they could fix it and they tell me 50 dollars and I dont want to pay that it seems like an easy fix. My girlfriends dad said all u have to do is connect a rod back to the key thing and thats it but He wouldnt really explain how to do it to me. So can anyone tell me how to fix this thanks alot.

Re: door locks

  1. Raise the door window. Remove the door trim panel and detach the inner panel water deflector enough to expose the access hole.
  2. Disengage the lock cylinder to the lock rod at the cylinder.
CAUTION If removing the lock cylinder retainer by hand, wear gloves to prevent personal injury.
  1. With a screwdriver or similar tool, slide the lock cylinder retainer forward until it disengages. The retainer can also be removed by hand by grasping anti-theft shield at the top of the retainer and rotating until disengaged. Remove the lock cylinder from the door.
  2. Lubricate the cylinder with the proper lubricant.
  3. Position the cylinder into place and rotate it until the cylinder engages. Install the cylinder retainer.
  4. Engage the lock cylinder to lock rod at the cylinder.
  5. Install the inner panel water deflector and door trim panel.
