Rear hatch weatherstrip removal question

I am in the process of removing all weatherstrip to paint my camaro. The rear hatch area concerns me now because it is in the way. i have removed all the adhesive from the sides and the bottom, but the top part where the hatch attaches to the body is difficult to get to. I was thinking to remove the hatch, but i am afraid to because of the fact it is glass. I know that it can be removed by unscrewing 4 bolts that hold it to the body, but i also noticed that there are rubber gaskets that seem very dry and need of replacement if i did remove it. Where could i find these gaskets or is ther any way around removing the hatch to access the top area where i need to remove the old adhesive? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Rear hatch weatherstrip removal question

it is in your best interest to remove the rear hatch to paint the car. as for the gaskets just use some good rtv silicone found at any auto parts store it will seal out any water. as for the weatherstrip that seal the glass to the body of the car it just comes right off and will push right back into place no sealer needed. good luck with the paint job.
