wheres my leak?!?

so ive got all brand new weatherstripping, soffseal, and i washed my car yesterday and everything was fine, then i started on the inside and none of the seals even leaked, i was cleaning the floor mats and pulled the drivers side one up to find soaking wet carpet underneath, and i know it did not come from my doors or windshield, so it had to come though the cowl somehow. but where? anyone have any ideas? i have to fix this before i put the car on the road, i cant have a leak like that guys!

Off hand I would say a leaking heater core on the passenger side floor. Do some checking in this area.

I would remove the kick panel and scuff plate, then pull the carpet back so you can see the firewall and floor area. Then have a buddy run water from a hose on the windsheild while you look to see where it's coming from.

Re: wheres my leak?!?

My leak was on the A-pillar upper frame rail joint. High under the dash even with wiring pass through. Water flowing down the windshield into the cowl is supposed to run out the sides and there is a 3-inch drain hole in the bottom of the upper frame rail. Pulling the wheel well liner and spraying water up this hole confirmed it. Mine had welding blow through holes from sum front end surgery.

I fixed it by dumping several doses of Rustoleom down the cowl. It follows the flow path. Gloss black seems to be thicker and was always the most durable on the farm equipment. Rust Encapsulator or POR-15 would have been better but $40 a can.

Re: wheres my leak?!?

Best solution is cut away the rust and weld in a patch panel.

No welder, cut away rust, brush paint it and cover it with a panel. Silicone to seal it and screws or pop-rivets to hold it on.
