Door Locks

My drivers side door lock isnt working when i use the key. Just wondering how hard it is to replace them?

Remove the door panel, then the linkage. There's a "U" clip that holds the lock in place. SOB to remove--at least that's my experience. Set aside a morning or afternoon.

the "U" clip is usually rusted in place or held in place with years of dirt so don't just pull it straight out, try to wiggle it a little while pulling it, makes it a whole lot easier.

take of inner panel. use long screw driver . pop off c clip. pick up out of door . pull out look. unclip from the rod. install new one. while you're at it wet/dry vac the inside of your door. after u pick up the c clip.

If you can insert the key and turn it, the rod is already unhooked. May just have to reinstall it.

Thanks everyone for the info. The lock doesnt unlock or lock the door, so it might just need hooked up.

yea, my passenger side does the same thing. i just don't want to screw around with it right now. but i'll do it one of these days.
