the "U" clip is usually rusted in place or held in place with years of dirt so don't just pull it straight out, try to wiggle it a little while pulling it, makes it a whole lot easier. Re: Door Locks
take of inner panel. use long screw driver . pop off c clip. pick up out of door . pull out look. unclip from the rod. install new one. while you're at it wet/dry vac the inside of your door. after u pick up the c clip.

yea, my passenger side does the same thing. i just don't want to screw around with it right now. but i'll do it one of these days.
