vertical defrost grids ??
theres an '87-90 z28 running around town here- that parks a few blocks away from here now and then, well i just noticed tonight- while i was tailing it back to this side of town- that the defrost grids in the glass run vertically and are spaced farther apart than normal.. they are positioned in the middle third of the glass.
ive never heard of nor seen this ever before seeing this one tonight

Probably an aftermarket type kit that was added on.
