what sandpaper do u recommend to remove orange peel on single stage black?

i'm out of black single stage and can't buy more due to the fact this is my second gallon of black due to the instruction being wrong on the can. i have 2 coats of color on and basically need to sand smooth so i can apply xtreme clearcoat. i keep reading about which different sandpaper to use , but they don't seem to apply to my screw up. what sandpaper do ya'll recommend for my problem. i have orange peel all over, when i layed my stripes i sanded with 320 for them to stick and didn't go through the paint, but even with 320 it was a pita to get smooth. that was on the hood though. the rest of the body doesn't seem as bad. but here's the pics of my situation and it single stage that i will apply clear over: help please

not 600,that is for when you are repainting or reclearing that panel.go 1500. that paint looks like it was sprayed rather dry

1500?? I'd use that to wetsand and buff it but hes just applying clear so you need to have a surface for the clear to stick to which is why I said 600, but with 600 you will probably be able to see some scratches in the black.

personally I don't like to spray any material on a panel that has been sanded with anything over 600 grit because I fear the paint will have no where to stick.

i'm scared of spray on surfaces above 600 too, but clearcoat applications seem to be different. but if my paint would have came out better i could of sprayed the clear right over it which would have been shining and smooth. i don't know

that single stage was sprayed on way to dry, you have issues on your hands now....start with 400 wet and work your way up...then clear it...i hope it works for you, and you dont have to strip that car and start again.

Re: what sandpaper do u recommend to remove orange peel on single stage black?

i've wetsanded the hood. i started with 600, 1000 and ended with 1500. i have very little orange peel lleft but nothing that bothers me . you see it in a few places, but one thing i've learned in this process , is not to push it.looks alot better. the rest of the body isn't that bad. from my testing with the sand paper , i'll probably start off with 800 for the rest of the body. for some reason i had the spoiler hanging and it came out perfect and thats the same way i painted the rest of the body. oh well. anyway i have to make it look better than macco.i have alot of people at my job anticipating the results.
