Door swap
Door swap
Hi, I have read a lot of things on this board about doors, I got a donor door to replace a rusted driver door on my 87 firebird. Problem, after replacing the bushings and all, the door seems to still not be up high enough on the end where it latches! I cannot get it to hang high enough to close properly. I have tried lossening the bolts and holding up the door. Is it possible the new door and hinges are off enough to cause this? Or have I not adjusted it properly? I saw a tool that looks like once you tighten the hinges it atTACHES TO THE DOOR MECHANISM AND YOU KIND OF BEND IT UP OR DOWN TO ADJUST THE DOOR, would this work if i got it close to closing? seems like the far end of the door is off about 1/2 or so , I did have it closed on the latch and was able to tighten the bolts but after opening the door it kind of sagged down again. Any help is appreciated!

Re: Door swap
1/2" ouch! That's quite a bit. The body side hinge must have really become bent out of shape? Did you have any trouble getting the old door off, separating the hinge brackets?
Lon at http://www.top-downsolutions.com sells an alignment tool that might help to realign the door. Check it out.
Good luck
