Door Latch Differences

Does anybody know what the differences are in early and late door latches? It looks like there are different part numbers for 87 and earlier vs 88-92 latches. The late latches are less than $100 each....the early ones are more than $200! Does anybody know what the differences are?

Re: Door Latch Differences

I'd guess there is no difference, there probably is but its not big enough to effect the way the door latches since you can swap 82 doors on to a 92 without problems...

Re: Door Latch Differences

Good point. I'm really more concerned about interfaces with the various rods inside the door than anything else. Like you say though, the latch-to-striker interface is undoubtedly identical.
