I just bought a 'glass 2" cowl hood for my bird(just for looks until I can afford a v8) and have 2 questions

1) Is it true that I'll have to do away with my hood hinge shocks because it will put too much stress on the hood to close it?

2) Is it a bad idea to paint fiberglass black? I've been told by certain people and certain fiberglass companies that it was a bad idea due to heat. However, this made no sense to me since 'glass stuff like 'vettes and fieros came black from the factory alot of the time

 

i still use my stock hinges and its paonted black. no probs w mine ahd it for 2 years so far

If they made that Trans-Am, I would certainly buy one! Who did the drawing? I've always been a Firebird guy and that would be what I've been waiting for. Too bad it'll never happen...........

I use both of my shocks for my fiberglass hood but I was told by a guy that takeing one off would be better but I haven't done that yet and it seems fine. As for painting it black mine is black and i'v never been told that but the hood a cowl so heat should escape fast. So I would not worry about it.

 

Jayg,I believe that picture is drawn by a guy named Kevin Morgan. I just googled 2009 Trans Am and came up with that. Yeah that would deff be a car to buy... but I guess we'll have to stick with the camaros :-/Reaper, Personally I would think taking one shock off would cause serious problems cause the pressure would be uneven or something. IDK. I think I'll just use both of my shocks and leave it alone.

 

That is what I thoght. Reason I still have both on my car but the guy that told me had a fiberglass hood on his mustage and used only one for the past two year but it's not going to hurt it at all to have two.
