Functional 85-92 trans am hood vents
I’ve seen this idea kicked around a lot and I need some serious input,
Wile walking thru the junkyard I spotted a 85 tpi Z28 , me being blessed with a 87 trans am knew my car had the worst induction system ever devised. I know the only real way to get real “ RAM AIR” is to shell out like 800 bucks to get a ram air II hood.
Well my little pockets and big dreams came up with another idea, What if you were to cut the camaro box in half and remove the blocking metal in your trans am hood and seal it up with thick weather stripping, sounds like it would work right………….It did.
First I removed the 2 front hood vent then using a hole saw cut a 1 inch hole in each side

Then using a sawszall I removed all the big chunks of metal

Remember the hacked up camaro air box I was telling you about well this is all of it you use, I bought 2 of them 1 to hack up for mock up and the other to do the right way. this ones kinda cut cockeyed

Well this is the way it sits with the hood down, I need to bring my grinding wheel home tommorow and remove the peices from the sides.

Well for a investment of 12 dollars I think I might have somthing here, I still havent figred out how im gonna put a filter in there, I wanted to get the weather stripping to seal it but autozone was closed, let me know what you think,
p.s I am in no way doing this for horse power I just wanted to see if I could prove alot of people Wrong, and yes a buddie of mine Who was helping me allready called it "direct port water injection"
