Does it need frame work.

I hit a girl in the back a few weeks ago. It was really a tap, Her car suffered no damage. mine was not so great, now the hood is I'm guessing between 1/4 inch or 1/2inch (I have not measured it) forward from where it should be and there is more spacing on the sides of the hood. It is not a real problem. It is not really noticeable (but to me and I'm guessing anyone that has a camaro) but the front of the hood now is wrong and has chipped the paint. So I've asked around and everyone seems to think it needs framework but keeps saying that it going to be big money. So I guess, to get to the point is frame work the only way and is it going to be some major money?

Re: Does it need frame work.

I'll get pic tomorrow it's dark here right now. I guess i'll try to describe it again in more basic terms. It's like the bottom part (where the lights and grill) of the car (in the front) was hit and push inward and the side were pushed out on both sides but just by a little. Basically the hood was not damage and now is now out further then the bottom so it doesn't line up. hope that helps, if not i'll try and get pic up tomorrow if i get the time.

Re: Does it need frame work.

when you say the side were pushed out do you mean the fender or the sides of the bumper cover? if your fenders and hood are still inline it may be just your impact bar do your hood still open and shut with no problems?

Re: Does it need frame work.

The sides are pushed out like the little lip, I guess, that the hood is to rest on is out from under in the front half of the hood but not the back and the sides are pushed outward, away from the engine. The hood opens and closes fine except the tip of the hood hits right above where the front emblem is and has chipped the paint but it is small and can be fixed.

Re: Does it need frame work.

Sorry to reply late, works been killing me. Here are some pic. The thing in the 1st pic to the right is a dime to give you an idea of how big the gap is. I have to say it's smaller then I remember.

deffinately appears to be fixable, looks like new hood/ fenders, cant really see bumper so can't tell on that damage, i wouldn't bother going to the frame shop, money you dont need to spend

everything is probably knocked out of alignment and can be easily fixed by an experienced body man in a few minutes or if your like my self you can spend an hour trying to make the gaps right and still need to call the body man to make it perfect

Re: Does it need frame work.

yea, you not going to "push" it back together if i were you i would take it to a bodyshop to get it back like it was. not saying you couldnt do some of the work yourself but from your question i have a feeling it might be more of a headache for you than needed. (not trying to sound mean just sayin)
