im looking to paint my engine bay black. what type of paint should i get on the cheap ? but that cant stand up?

 

the guy at the auto paint store told me to use SEM chipguard on the underside of my hood. it comes in a big spray can (20oz?) and is $16.00 this is a satin black exterior coating that is semi textured and pretty rugged. i used a whole can on the underside of my hood and it covered it but did not come out as textured as i would have liked. i am sure there are better ways but A:i want to see what people have to say about this idea! B: it seems to work pretty good!
