Getting the body smooth

Someday I will be able to afford a paint job, but in the meantime I think I should concentrate on getting the body smooth. Doors are full of dings and the hood is rippled a bit where the latch is. I've never done anything like this before. I have access to body panels which I can use to practice. How is this done? Bondo? Anybody recommend any good books or instructional videos on the subject that I could buy?

Re: Getting the body smooth

I searched on google, founds some good links. Fun stuff..... lol I had alot of dings, and even a hole (covered in thick puddy) in my hood, right next to the latch area. I had to sand that bad boy all the way down
