Re: round headlights for thirdgen

Never seen anything but im sure you could fab something up... What kind did you have in mind?

Not to thread jack but im interested in the guy who had 2 solid rectangular headlights rather than 4 square ones. He had a teal Camaro with a very nice wing. Id like to know what he did and how. Also interested in the wing.

Re: round headlights for thirdgen

he probably took the headlights off of something like my fathers truck which is a 1993 chevrolet c1500 and fabbed them in, instead of sealed beams it goes to composite headlights which is great because then you can change a bulb in just a twist. the older 1500 series pickup has four square headlights like our third gens so i would not doubt one bit that it wouldnt be very simple to installed pickup truck headlights into place.

I barely remember but I think I read somewhere, probably on his cardomain, that they came from a buick. Id really like to find out who this person is, cuz I still want to know about the wing as well.

But I do see what you mean. They may work. Im trying to think of someone I know who has that truck so I can inspect.

Interesting how they did that. Early 90's Gran Prix HL's. Thanks for the link dave.

Re: round headlights for thirdgen

I saw an article on the fall 2003 Camaro Performers publication where this was done to an 88. The guy used the sealed beams out of an 87 Monte Carlo....it is a sweet looking mod .

Looks like a late 80's Buick Lesabre, with the rubber seal around it.

They are the Pilot foglight PL-704c and the specs are attached. I have two sets of them. The high beams are PL-704 amber.

On that blue car, they look like 90's Beretta lights.

Thanks, I was actually thinking about using PL-1093W for mine and I was going to convert my bumber signal lights into 6000k halogen fog lights.

Re: round headlights for thirdgen

Hi, I have a 1987 El Camino SS and have been working on installing a single unit headlight. !LOMARO said that 87 Monte Carlo lights would work, I have not found any that fit yet, the lights on the Monte SS and standard Monte are both 4 rectangle lights like the Camaro. I believe they use the same plastic mount for the headlights. It might be the Monte CL that had the one piece light but I have never seen these or how they would fit. The lights I bought were from a 1989/90 Corsica, Lauren makes fiberglass brackets to bolt them right to the Monte SS or El Camino SS nose, probably they also make them to fit the Camaro but I have not seen it done yet.

Re: round headlights for thirdgen

Every time I look at a camaro with the nose and back bumper/tail lights off I dream of making a custom first-gen style front/rear with round headlights and the 1st gen tail lights with a blacked out rear panel. Would look awesome (and kill the aero up front). Would probably look like a car GM would build as a 6th gen IMO.

andrew is right the Monte Carlo LS ones might work but they are very hard to find, even on the Monte SS site I never see them for sale.

The Monte SS headlights are 82-92 Camaro headlight buckets, trimmed and with a bracket added. Lauren used to make them for Celebrity lights; I didn't know they fit for Corsica lights.

jmd - you are correct...I made a mistake, they are Celebrity headlights that I have. (hard to keep all those late 80's midsize chevys straight since other than the headlights I have no interest in the FWD sedans!)

OK man thanks. It is definitely not good to work in a car during bad weather, 2 weeks ago I changed the engine oil and lubed the chassis on my RS and ended up with a pretty bad backache.

They all look nice. i have been planning on using two round lights so i could have a little room for some air to flow passed into a CAI. Nothing set in stone but plenty a drawings and planning, and maybe something that looks good will fit.

Re: round headlights for thirdgen

idk I noticed you trying to find round lights, you could probably fab something definately. and the halo lights will have to come off a truck, maybe a late s10 or something simalar that's chevy. I've noticed chevy is fairly lazy when it comes to new measurements so alot of stuff fits together well, a little trimming or a little adding and it should fit snug liek the stock lights. for having a single unit it looks like the headlights from a 89-94 nissan maxima would work, they've got about the same curve to them as the fore front of a third gen bumper and the fit would be near perfect. I only know cause I had on. I'm not sure about replacing the bulb though, can't remeber if it's sealed beam or not. I do know they have a little hose on them ti let out moisture and pressure, so you're light wont end up malformed or oxydized. I don't know much about cars but I'm good with electronic and wiring so if anyone has more questions I'll try to help as best I can.

Edit: forgot to mention, the nissan head lights have a single light for both low and high, might be dificult for some addaptation, but it's easer when replacing bulbs. depends on your pref I guess

I do alot of editing: I just did a search to throw in some examples of s10 lights that will work, but most of the halo lights wrap around and the corner light is one peice. I'm not sure which year it was but there's one where the corner light and headlight are separate, IKNOW they hve halo lights for them cause I've seen them around. there's a gut that stops in a gas station I used to work at that had it set up like that. and below is a link to after market HID sealed beam kits, should help with fabricating a round lamp setup. http://www.automotivelightingusa.com...index&cPath=39

I changed my mind on the round headlights. Found a set of diamond cut lights and also some turn signals to match.

Fatal88 did the 1-piece headlights almost 10 years ago. Along with the LT1 (LS1 didn't even exist then) & 4th gen dash. I saw it at the GM Classic Tour they were doing at various shows. I saw it down by Houston, in the mid 90s.

Fatal88 hasn't logged into TGO in just over 2 years now.....

Re: round headlights for thirdgen

how about the light year one is using in their Bandit car.

It has a round look on the low beam and a standard on the high beam. I'm not sure about it fitting in the space but could be an option.

Anything that would be on a Rice Rocket and that looks awesome on American cars.
