So ya want to install door frame WEATHER SEALS
This is a 2 part video on how to istall door frame weather seals on 82-92 Camaro & Trans Am. Watch Part one and then part two. It has a 14 minute run time so get some coffee. LOL don't mind my ugly mug!
It also includes a product review of both the OER and Trim Parts produced weather seals.
The videos show start to finish how to replace your worn or damaged door frame weather seals including removal of the door panel.
ADMINS: I hope you all will allow this video post to remain open, Please note we do not offer the OER or Trim Parts produced units.. We created the video to give a honest product review of the actual installed units and also to inform the indiviual on how to do this at home.

WOW that is an excellant way to show people how to take off door panels and put on new seals. Should eliminate alot of questions on here too. The brand comparison was cool too.

Re: So ya want to install door frame WEATHER SEALS
I'm in the market for new weatherseals now, so it was nice to see a side-by-side comparison of two manufacturers. How do the OER and Trim Parts products compare in fit to the Metro Molding units? How hard is it to close the door with the Metro Moldings and how long is the break-in period? Do you have any comparisons for t-top weatherstripping? Thats of course the most important one to get a good seal on.

Jeremy,
I like metro the best of all the companies, Soff-Seal makes a great out of the box seal but I beleiev Metro are the best now and later down the road.
The metros are much like the Trim Parts units, AKA they fit very good out of the gate and also have a short break in period.
In January we will become and offical sponsor of "ThirdGen.org" as we have all the details worked out with the company that handles that for the site here. Then I can post you direct links.
Until then I can say doing a search with us would make you very happy!
Also that Thirdgen.org members always get a 5% discount when buying from us.

Jeremy,
Hey just noticed your location, while we live in Tennessee I hail from Lockport and travel back and forth a few times per year.

very cool. I did some searching and like what I see. I've lived up in the Buffalo area for 7 years now. I actually worked at Delphi in Lockport for 2 years, but the long-term outlook wasn't good there so I jumped ship a little over a year ago.
Re: So ya want to install door frame WEATHER SEALS
nice little video. noticed you have a reference to soffseal and metro also. what are the comparisons there would have been nice also but you at least pointed out two main differences.
soffseal and oer are almost identical and both are very similar to gm. i liked how you pointed out that the oer is more stiff when it comes to closing the door. this breaks down reather easily on a vehicle that is daily driven and then holds a nice gap. for show cars it can be a bit of an upsetting delema as you have to slam your doors but the material used by oer, soffseal, etc looks more oem.
these two brands definately take some work to line up the holdes around the door, not quite as much as gm brand but being tight doesn't require any type of glue or sealant which is nice for those of us with show quality paint jobs.
decent work, next time turn off the cell phone or whatever is beeping.

Excellent! Thanks for the vids. I'm in need of a set on my car. Perfect timing.
Been looking at these on Ebay for weeks but hesitant to order them as I'm not sure what the fit and quality is like. Seems the seller has good feedback though...

That is "Parts Place" they are a competitor of ours, not a bad company.
You need to know name brand though as is not listed, a weather seal is only as good as it's producer.
They are about $15 cheaper then us but if it is a cheap seal it "ain;t worth dink"
Big thing is ask questions and of course support companies that support the Fbody community.

Regarding the TTop, I did a write up last year when I replaced mine. Do a search and you should find the pictures.
I used GM as I found them for about the same price as the aftermarket companies. I also heard from people on this board that the Metro seals fell apart after 6 months and the OER/SoffSeal ones didn't always line up and were hard to get the correct shape. Those were for the TTop strips. Door strips might be easier, but I'll stick with GM.

Scott,
I have never had that issue with the Metro (we sell about 30k a year of them.) Sounds like maybe a bad batch or run of them?
All makes offer a warrenty which is a good thing.
Ya have to love GM LOL if they don't start running a business like a business there may be no G< by 2010.
We are experiencing some severe issues with GM getting any sort of stock from them. (Waiting months for parts in some cases)
If ya know you'll need weather seals and want GM guys I would say make plans to get them sssssoooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

Re: So ya want to install door frame WEATHER SEALS
I have a new video we are going to do I am hoping tomorrow for the t-top secondary seals the t-top it self. The rubber solid flap is pulling loose on mine and is driving me nuts so tomorrow we will (if weather holds) do a video on how to replace or at least reglue it down.

Re: So ya want to install door frame WEATHER SEALS
Great video but it, like many, assume that everything works well.
My problem is that "just wiggle off" top plastic trim cover.
my would not come off without almost breaking it, and it had never been off before.
the reason i took it off was to check the wiring for power right and left mirrors.
it will be a biach to get on and maybe next time we could see you actually take off the top trip pad and then refitting it, as well as the seal that goes onto that top.
but the video was really good and helpful.
THANK YOU FOR MAKING IT.
