?s about buffing

Ok so when I got my firebird the guy told me he painted it in his back yard. It looks ok for the most part but it doesnt have that shine i would like. This is probably because it has no clear coat. He said he mixed the clearcoat with the paint (black) and sprayed and left it at that. So i was wondering is it possible to wet sand the entire car (considering there are imperfections) and just buff it to get a decent shine out of this half@$s paint job. The paint is not really thick and it has chipped a little on the front bumper.

My guess is you should leave it alone. If he really mixed the clear in with the color it's chemically not even paint... If you know what I mean. He's ruined the clear chemically. It's probably not going to get much better and may be so thin that the lightest sanding will go right thru. If you wanted to try it, do it on a part that will be relatively easy to repaint. Good luck

1 piece is correct if the guy mixed color and clear on a base/clear app.
its no longer considered paint from a chemical standpoint.
I wonder if this car wasn't just poorly prepped/painted with some single stage enamel.I think that could have happened.
