Where to look for rust spots before purchase
Hi everyone,
I am going to look at another '91 TA convertible tomorrow and was wondering where the areas of concern for rust are on these cars. I know the floor pans are one area to check, but are there other spots that can be checked without putting the car up on a lift? Luckily the car I have now is a southern car and rust was not an issue, but this car spent its first few years up north. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Jason

Re: Where to look for rust spots before purchase
I've looked at an 82 Firebird last week, it was a bit rusty. The spots I that scared me :
- under the windshield
- A-pillars (if you see paint bubbling that means it needs to be repaired)
- lower door hinges pillars
- rocker panels
I would check those also :
- quarter panels
- fenders
- frame
- battery tray

From what I've discovered, if the car has been up North, the best place to check for rust is EVERYWHERE! I've even discovered rot-through on the ROOF!
