jack help

might be the wrong spot but didnt really see a spot for it.

Whats your prefernce between using a trolley jack or a bottle jack? I've never really used bottle jacks but they have a higher height capacity so Im considering body one but dont wanna waste the money if its not gonna be worth it.

Both my cars are pretty low so would a bottle jack fit easily? ive founf some that will fit nicely that hold 10 tons compared to 3 or 4 on my trolley jacks.

thanks

Re: jack help

By trolley jack do you mean a traditional hydralic jack?
I haven't seen a bottle jack that could really be used on a Camaro. Their to tall. Besides that a 4 ton jack will lift your car completely off the ground. So unless you plan on having a car load of people in the car and you plan on lifting the whole car at once, a 2 ton is more then enough.
That will lift the whole front or rear at once. You could lift the whole side but I wouldn't advise it.

My other thought is you mean a sissor jack, but I have never seen one that has a high rating, don't like them or bottle jacks much, cause they are a lot less stable then a hydralic jack.

Re: jack help

bottle jacks are great for road-side tire repair but i would NOT climb under a car that is supported by one. they can also be good for doing body work. good to have around but not for every day mechanical work!
