Can Hoods with loavers and blisters be made functional?

If so could someone tell me how this can be done? I like these types better than cowl hoods and i think with an open element filter this could greatly improve breathablitliy. Thanks.

cut the metal under the vents and brace around the cuts if you want your hood to be nice and solid.

a plasma cutter would be nice, I know I want one

Do a search, there's a thread devoted to making those things functional. One person ended up having the engine heat melt their louvers but another person seems to have had good success.

I've cut mine to make them functional. I made sure to leave some horizontal bracing on the hood and leave the braces on the louvers intact and so far I haven't had a problem with any kind of warping.

Re: Can Hoods with loavers and blisters be made functional?

He used stock louvers and cut pieces out of them. Ill let him explain that more. Also about hood blisters. I seen a guy cut a whole in the hood under the front of the blister so that you couldn't tell that it was there. Then he cut out the insert and put in a mesh grille so that heat could escape out of the blister.
