surface rust in top door corners
Hey guys,
I have been experiencing a recurring problem with surface rust in the top rear corners of my doors, where the roof meets the side pillar. I have tried sanding the area down to bear metal and then spraying the area with rustoleum. The problem however persists and comes back within a month. I need to prevent this from happening until the spring, when I will be able to repaint the whole car. Any suggestions as to how to deal more effectively with this situation would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

sand to metal, apply a rust converter (can buy at walmart) then topcoat with rustoleum.

Also, without looking at it, if it's just a spot then your fine doing this, if it is deaper, or you have even a small hole, you have rust on the inside, and it will still come thru.
Make sure you get all of it. With that in mind, if you don't or can't cut your car up right now to replace panels and what not, you may have to keep doing what you are.
I will also add this, rust converter will lengthen the time between fixes, if you cannot get all of it.

Primers are porous and allow rust for form through the primer to the metal. If your rust is not coming from the inside out, then you may need to sand to bear metal, use the rust converter, prime, then seal with a topcoat paint.
