Re: which CAMARO spoiler works best?

performance wise? I assume thats what you mean. i dont know exsactly but i think the rs spoiler works around like 150mph so id say the Z28 wing maybe is the same area. Not sure i think its basically just a cosmetic mod. -Matt

Re: which CAMARO spoiler works best?

The RS spoilers are more effective at down force, but to reach the speeds to make them actually do anything useful...They basically end up being cosmetic & added weight.

Re: which CAMARO spoiler works best?

The RS spoiler is much better - it gives more down force and doesn't add as much drag as a Z28 wing...

Re: which CAMARO spoiler works best?

So I guess the "Hawks" 5 inch spoiler would add even more down force....

Probably, but would add a lot of drag since it would definitely be in the airstream over the back of the car.

I like the look of the 5" spoiler. Not to worried how well it works but it definatly looks sweet.

I don't really see why you would really care about downforce, our cars generally don't need it because we can easily maintain traction once we get to a speed where downforce comes into play. if your looking for improved handling the suspension is probably a better place to start.

Re: which CAMARO spoiler works best?

ok heres how isee it.

more downforce= more drag=less top speed
less downforce= less drag= higher top speed

if that helps anyway.

Re: which CAMARO spoiler works best?

Yes...Some potential ultimate top speed must be sacrificed for potential stability.

You wanna lose 2mph, or turn the car sideways at 150mph, because the tires lost traction?

But in the end....We rarely see the speeds that warrant a rear wing anyways. Certainly not on the street we don't, unless you count the autobahn.

That about sums it up the best.
But if you ever do have the hankering to stop and have lunch alongside the road sometime, by all means go with the park bench!

I have a 4th gen 98-02 wing on my GTA now. I saw a pic of a 'bird with the 91/02 pedestal wing on it...Kinda looks cool! Hmmmm...

Re: which CAMARO spoiler works best?

well, my dad has worked on our cars from the factory, knows all about them, he says that these cars are supposta leave the ground at 140 anyways, thats stock of course, but the front lifts right up off the ground. scary huh, but he never said anything bout the rear, so i d k, i think all wings in that case work fine, but the less downforce the faster yes, but you still need downforce to exist

If the nose lifts at 140, more rear downforce would only make that worse.

But no....These cars do not "fly" at 140. Been here, successfully, myself as have countless others. And none ofus have flipped just because of speed. Dad just trying to limit your speed by scaring you?

All due to not having a vented hood and letting air bang around under the car.

But the car won't take off... Just may feel like it will.

Just don't get a ***** spoiler. Don't get some horrid import wing, get something that compliments the car. I honestly don't think you will notice or get any changes in a different spoiler.

Realistically? The 91-92 highrise spoiler. It's heavier, and thus puts more downforce on the rear wheels at any speed

Re: which CAMARO spoiler works best?

I wanna see the the 4th gen spoiler on the 3rd gen. been how to make that work for my car.But I am a little lost on this RS Vs.Z28 spoiler. I can only think of two factory spoilers. A 2 1/2 and a 3 1/2 or so. And I have seen them on either or from the factory small spoiler on early years (82-86) and the larger one on the later models(87-91) and its all pretty much cosmetic. Now the 5 inch aftermarket spoiler does look pretty sweet

The 5 inch is really great looking. Not sure if it would really help performance wise but i dont see why not. Anyways when buying the 5 inch just know that it will need some work and its not quiet a perfect fit because its aftermarket but most ppl love it.
