Re: Easy fix?

I can buy this car for $650, needs carb. I'm not much of a body man, but I'm one hell of a welder. That's the only rust spot on the car.

You could get a carbed IROC (L69 engine) in 85, and I think still in 86-87 as well.

That looks like some serious rust there, the short answer is no, it's not an easy fix. If you have the tools to cut out the rust and weld in a new panel, it's not impossible, but definitely will take some work.

Re: Easy fix?

now thats something that makes more sense lol. its definitely not what i would call "easy" but its fixable without a doubt, assuming its dont spread much further then that.and there are plenty of factory carburated irocs out there

Re: Easy fix?

I think it would be easier to change the whole fender, look at the hole behind the ground effect !

I'm sure you can find the easily in the US.

Re: Easy fix?

Looks like some of these so called experts don't know their irocs? Yes, carbed, 305 HO L69 engine.

For $650 would it be worth fixing? I've done small rustorations, but it looks like I'll have to cut quite a bit out. Can I just buy the panel from the body line down? \

Re: Easy fix?

if the rest of the body is solid, the engine runs strong, and the car has not been "modified" too much, I say buy it.

Re: Easy fix?

iroc was really just a package anyways. who cares if it is an iroc or not? if the car is in good condition 650= good deal.

Re: Easy fix?

odometer says 77000. I ran the vin on carfax due to the salvaged title. It reported an accident with no structural or frame damage, and the odometer reading was inaccurate. The engine code says it was a 305 TPI, which is gone. I did find 305 tpi motor and trans for $500 with the computer and all the wiring harness. 72000 miles out of a 92 bird. It needs door hinge bushings, inside door handle, radio bezel. Just needs some tlc and a little rust repair and some paint. I'm thinking black with hugger orange hockey sticks. Kind of like this one.
