Re: trunk and door lock set replacement!!! HELP

more than once. i carry just a door key in my wallet.
go to any locksmith and they can give you a key to match right there, or they can change the keys there too. i said lock smith, not one of those places where some clerk copies a key, but a real lock smith. every neighborhood has at least one. but there may be a lot of labor charges involved.
you pull the cylinders yourself and have them make one key to fit each of them. but its a bit of a pain to do that.
chances are the person who found you key has no idea what car it fits. or you can pull all the key cylinders and take them in and it will be cheaper to do them out of the car.
good luck

Go to Dealer with your Vin & proof of ownership and get new keys made. Could be cheaper then replacing the lock cylinders. Or call a locksmith and see what he can do for you. More options then you thought you had.

A single post about a problem is usually sufficient.

Answer to your questions: Yes, Ive changed the whole lock set. Cost was $85 from Classic Industries for lock set without ignition. Best estimate I got from a local locksmith was $45 labor to re-code a cylinder. Don't know about getting a key made, but $45-75 seemed to be the walking in the door price.

I don't know any easiest way. The door trim panels have to come off to get to the cylinder retainers. The hatch you can either break the center tail light/cylinder bezel to drill out 2 rivets holding it in or try prying out passenger side of inner trim panel to get you arm behind it. Or break it where your striker pokes up through. Easiest to repair/hide in my opinion. You will be trying to pull the cable going in to latch loose to pop it.

PM replied to.

Here are pictures of the rod clip I tried to describe. In the pictures the locking tail has been pried up and the clip slid out enough to let go of the notch in the rod.
