Re: Save it or part it?Can't decide!?
thanks guys!
Sony master, the grill is indeed black right now.
I'm just searching around and getting opinions(whether I like them or not)and studying pics of other peoples white camaros.
I have grown attached to a few but,I am still unsure of the route I'll be going with this.
Dang carz, wheres my spacer?I thought you would have it here today?LOL
Just kidding man!
Updates will come soon.
Thanks again all!

Alright, after 2 days of thinking and searching,I have finally decided on what areas on the car are going to be black.
I also now take back the comment I made about white wheel inserts, those will be black as well.
Heres a pic of the look I'm shooting for. This is a fellow members car,(hope he doesn't mind me borrowing it?)

Paint the hood blisters black!! had mine white for 2 years (before the paint job) and from 10+ feet away you might as well have an RS hood lol.
I'd also say ditch the door guards unless you drive/park in a city every day. I wish I had gotten rid of mine and will be doing so on the next paint job. The car is much sleeker/modern looking without the rubbermaid.

Re: Gonna save it!!
yeah phishman92,the door moldings are definately gonners!
I think I'm gonna stay with the white blisters though.Who knows, maybe I'll change my mind at crunch time.
My blisters are already black so,I'll leave them at the bottom of the list of sep. parts that need to be painted white and set them down on the hood after its painted.
Maybe I'll like it,maybe I won't. Easy enough to change either way you look at it.
Primer coming folks. The spotted areas are just a temp. seal for the bare metal spots.

Re: Gonna save it!!
Well folks, did manage to get some white laid onto this car today.
As usual though,I got myself into a big hurry and got runs on the pass. door just below the mirror area and also on the drivers side of the chin spoiler.
YUCKY!! I guess I'll do some more sanding/painting next weekend..
And carz, blisters are white (for now anyway) pm me what ideas you have for wheels for your car and I'll see what I can do.

Yay! Car is now all resanded and ready for the re-coat.
I decided to remove the t-top weatherstrips this time around and trashed one when removing it.
After getting the seals all off,I found surprise number 3 on this car(rust in the weatherstrip channels)
Is now all fixed up with some help from a friend of mine (POR-15) Sweet friend to have when in need.
I'll have it done someday!!?

Re: Gonna save it!!
What do you mean? You think 3 months is to fast to locate parts, rebuild a tranny, get the car in one piece(somewhat) and still manage to screw up a simple paintjob? lol
The paint wasn't TERRIBLE but,I can't stand orange peel!
Took me MAAAAAAAAAANY hours to block out my black car and buff it.
Not sure what the prob. is exactly. Do you think my cheapo harbor freight hvlp gun could be to blame?
I'm using a single stage urethane thats a 3;1 mix and also using a slow retarder to help with the flow.
Just wondering what your opinion is,I'm thinking the gun is my prob.?

Yeah man,I don't know for sure either but, humidity level was less than 60% and the mixed paint looked good to me.

Re: Gonna save it!!
I'm curious, what kind of paint are you guys using? Has to be something fairly forgiving if you're having decent results outside.
As far as the orange peel, which HF gun are you using? the ones with the purple anodized bodies are really very good guns for the money, I have both the full size and the touch up one and use them all the time, especially the touch up gun.
Humidity shouldn't cause orange peel, it will cause a haze or coudyness in some paints, so it looks slighly oxidized even when perfectly polished. For me, orange peel is usually the result of too little pressure or too little fluid flow, but that could also be the result of the paint being too thick to spray down well.

Thats what I get for being in a rush to get things done!
I can't believe its been this long since I sanded it down again!
I took a break from this car and took my aggressions out on a rotted 2nd gen. that needed to be parted out!
I'll get this one fixed up soon!

I'm using a single stage 2 part urethane. Its very forgiving as long as you mix right, use the right reducer for the temp. in which you are spraying and also have a nice clean gun.LOL!
Still collecting parts needed for this car.I'm still in search of seats and h/l.

How big is your air compressor that you are using to paint the car? I want to paint my formula myself, but I have a feeling my compressor doesn't hold enough air.

Looks great. I really want to paint my car myself, but It might be cheaper to do all the prep and have someone else spray it.
