Re: locks

you will have to take the door panel off to be sure, but you probably just disconnected the bar that runs from the lock to the handle

Check the following diagram (the rod is held in place by a plastic piece, IIRC, and becomes brittle after years of heat/cold):

Re: locks

i have an 84 caprice classic that i have replaced all four plastic thingies in.
each one went bad randomly.
it sucks too because its a little piece that costs less than a dollar, but you have to completely take apart the door to get to it and replace it.
have fun...

Re: locks

i was able to get in my trans am with a flat head screw driver into the key hole for the door.

amazing how easy it was to break in but next time try that took literally 2seconds and i was in

and didnt ruin anything inside teh lock for the key

Re: locks

pay for the lesson so you dont do it again and if you do you know what to do

call a tow truck driver

he will probably use a jimmy and will not want you to watch while he does it but oh well you have the money

buy a jimmy and practice makes whatever perfect might be

Sounds to me like your lock was already broken. You shouldn't be able to turn it with a screwdriver.

Re: locks

well i dont want this post to be a huge thing over its supposed to or not

just saying my cars door locks work fine with my key

and on ocassion when i couldnt get in the car i was able to use a smaller flat head screw driver and get in my car very easily

im not sure how or what could be broken for me to still be able to use the key in my locks effectively

im sure people would want locks on their cars taht a simple screw driver cant penetrate but i have no answers

just sayin my car can be broken into with a screwdriver and has not affected how my locks work with my key since
