I'd put some on now. I know mine twisted before I put connectors on it mostly from the hatch not being a great fit, and I've had to adjust the hood too.

I agree. Its never too soon to put them on. My coworker bought an 84 Z28 years ago that had a blown up 305, 5 speed , and is a hard top. The roof had started to split behind the doors. And it was all stock.

Re: 83 z , subframe con questoin

mine dosent have the crack in the corner of the window but it is ttop so i dont know if it will crack in the same place ,now it being a ttop car are sub frame conectors enuf or do i need some sort of cage top tie it all together. there ais a guy at the track i race at that has the same cAR ,and he had said it would be a good idea to ad the cage to stfen up the car ,any oneknow? the car should turn in the 12's ,it has never made a full power pass ,and has never made a pass where the trans wasent slipping (got a new one this year) the trans had no 2nd no 4rth and sliped by aprox 2000rpm in 3rd and still run 14.06 at 95mphand i let out at the 1000ft mark, the car has been in the family since 83 so i dont want to break the body but i allso still want to use the ttops !

Re: 83 z , subframe con questoin

well it would be hard for a t-top car to get those cracks lol. but a roll cage would be perfect for your car if you can deal with having it there

Vanishing Point Race Cars can bend you a cage that would still allow use of your T-Tops.talk to Keith.

Re: 83 z , subframe con questoin

I'd put subframe connectors on any f-body I had. I had a v6 camaro at one time that had body twist in it so bad that I couldn't take it through a laser wash even after replacing all the weatherstripping becuase it would leak. (t-top car)

I would put subframe connectors on an Iron Duke car that is 20 years old

unibody saves wieght but after so many years it gets really weak

t-top cars and conv

subframe connectors would be the first mod I did.

I would not run my toyota 4cly diesel drivetrain without subframe connectors

mine had the "crack" just on the drivers side. I put the sub frame connectors in before I started doing the body work.
