Is this a good deal?

I went to my body shop guy and he gave me an estimate on 3 things I need done to the car all for $300.00.

1. replace ttop center bar because its rusted.( I have a spare ttop bar.)
2. Replace bush and pin on driver side door. ( I have to provide the part)
3. Fix the rear hatch alignment.

He's done work on my other car before so it sounds good. What do you guys think?

Is he just fixing the bushing and pin or is he could to align and correct your doors? What do you mean by "replace ttop center bar" ? Do you just mean the black trim piece?

If he's not going to align your doors, and all he's doing is replacing the black trim piece on your t-top bar, it's a waste of your time.

It takes some skill and time to align the rear hatch, and I'm not saying that overall it isn't a good deal for the amount of time this guy might spend (assuming he's not charging you hourly labor on top of it) but I don't see the first two things you listed actually correcting anything unless he's doing other things to the afflicted area as well.

If that t-top trim piece is rusted out, you probably have rust problems underneath it you need to take care of. If your bushing is worn out, there's a good chance your hinge is bent now, or you have rubbing issues somewhere else that could have caused you more problems.

Re: Is this a good deal?

The body shop guy will replace the ttop center black piece. Like I mentioned I bought a separate black center piece that is not rusted from another guy. IF there's rust under it then he will have to take care of that too. I did ask if I will need to replace the weatherstrip even though they look like there in good condition and he said no. I probably will call him back to verify if he will use a new weatherstrip or use the same one on it.

Also, my driver side door doesn't sag much but I can tell it will need replacing of the bushsing and pin in which he will align the door.

My opinion is that it sounds reasonable except I wonder if he knows what he's getting into with the T-top bar and reusing the seals.

Re: Is this a good deal?

Yes this is a good deal. Respectively remind him to please be careful removing any weatherstrip unless you have replacement weatherstrip on hand due to the fact that finding quality replacement weatherstrip is a major problem especially for T-TOP cars. The hardtop cars in some cases can get away with the aftermarket weatherstrip, but rarely a T-TOP car. Therefore, the only sure option for T-TOP cars is to go with the GM WEATHERSTRIP otherwise be prepared for major frustration, because most of the aftermarket weatherstrip on the market DOES NOT FIT AS ADVERTISED!!!! GOOD LUCK.
